Healthcare Hospitals

Select Specialty Hospital

Our hospitals form a national network of more than 100 long-term acute care sites across the United States. Our typical patient survived critical care but has continued weakness and significant medical needs. Select Specialty and Regency hospitals are designed to provide comprehensive, specialized care for high-acuity patients who need more time to recover.

Our clinical practice is guided by over 200 local medical directors and chief nursing officers, all of whom follow rigorous protocols approved by Select Medical’s national medical advisory board. Chaired by our LTAC division’s national medical director, pulmonologist Dr. David Jarvis, the board consists of more than 15 leading physicians and clinical specialists. In close collaboration with our chief medical officer, Dr. Samuel Hammerman, the board and local hospital leadership help our treatment teams recognize and utilize many of the most successful, evidence-based practices.

With approximately 100 locations throughout the country, Select Specialty and Regency hospitals provide highly specialized care to promote recovery from the most critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. We treat patients who usually have multiple system failure and are commonly on ventilator support. Because our patients require a longer stay and a more resource-intensive level of care, we offer a unique setting for professional development and engagement. We have opportunities in nursing; physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapy; pharmacy; and leadership and ancillary staff positions.

Our clinical practice is guided by medical directors and chief nursing officers, who follow rigorous guidelines approved by Select Medical’s National Medical Advisory Board (NMAB). The board consists of more than a dozen leading physicians and clinical specialists. In close collaboration with our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Samuel Hammerman, MMM, CPE, FCCP, NMAB, local hospital leadership and medical staff help our treatment teams recognize and use successful, clinically-tested treatments.

Licensed as long-term acute care hospitals, our hospitals form a national network of critical illness recovery hospitals. Our typical patient survived critical care but has continued weakness and significant medical needs. Select Specialty and Regency hospitals are designed to provide comprehensive, specialized care for high-acuity patients who need more time to recover.
