The Department of Veterans Affairs wants to hold prize competitions to gather ideas on how to modernize its system for managing veterans’ electronic health records, Nextgov reported Tuesday.
Bob Brewin writes that the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture will be updated in order for VA personnel to share medical records with Pentagon users and healthcare providers.
The VA is seeking a contractor to organize and publicize a VistA Evolution design challenge, according to Brewin’s article.
Contractors can submit proposals for the VA-sponsored competition until May 8.
Brewin writes that the contest could help pave the way for the VA to pitch the VistA Evolution system to the Defense Department.
