Mercy Health System Recognized as Top Epic EHR User

Mercy has been recognized as a top EHR user by technology vendor Epic Systems, the health system recently announced. The health system joins three others as Gold Star users.

Mercy received this recognition after adding its 700th item to its Epic EHR. These functionalities reportedly allow providers to spend more time with patients, focus on better chronic disease management, and offer better patient health data access through e-visits and tablet-based healthcare.

This recognition follows Mercy’s accreditation as an Epic Systems software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider. Through Mercy Technology Services, the health system helps others during Epic EHR implementations. Mercy is the only Epic Systems user to be both SaaS-accredited and a Gold Star awardee.

According to Mercy leaders, this is a part of the health system’s commitment to effectively using health technology to improve patient care.

“Our approach is to maximize every bit of innovative care Epic puts into its software so Mercy’s patients get excellent care when and where it’s convenient for them,” said Mark Brinley, Vice President of Clinical Systems at Mercy Technology Services. “By extending Mercy’s EHR to other small hospitals in rural areas, these cutting edge capabilities help patients everywhere live healthier lives.”
