Oct 19: EMRs New Capabilities to Reduce Reimbursement Denials and Increase Cash Flow

Errors in the medical coding and billing process are robbing many therapists of their hard-earned revenues. Nitin Chhoda, a private practice marketing and EMR expert, recently released new information to assist clinic owners in using the EMR system for increased income.

Denville, NJ (PRWEB) October 17, 2013

“Accurate medical billing and coding procedures are essential if practitioners are to collect the funds they’re due. Changing requirements from insurers and simple errors can result in delays or outright rejections of claims. Combine that with complicated client conditions and narrow coding parameters and it’s a recipe for lost revenues,” said Chhoda.

He noted that timely reimbursement submissions and conducting follow-ups are normal aspects of the payment process and an EMR facilitates and speeds up the entire procedure. Perhaps the most important feature of an EMR is the ability to recognize potential coding errors before the claim is submitted. Chhoda said approximately 50 percent of all claims are rejected and an EMR can virtually eliminate questions, rejections and contestations.

Among the much functionality available with an EMR is the ability to send claims individually or as a batch to multiple insurers. Clinicians have full control of how the billing process is conducted. Reimbursement claims are sent electronically, directly from an EMR, and the claim can be ready for submission before a patient leaves the office.

According to Chhoda, EMRs encompass a myriad of tools to track claims, denials and existing problems within the billing process. The systems provide the means to monitor denials, rejection rates and potential patterns that can be causing problems or slowing payment disbursements.

Unpaid accounts and balances can also be monitored. This physical therapy software is capable of receiving one-time or recurring payments online from patients utilizing debit and credit cards and bank accounts.

Chhoda’s new information shows the versatility of EMRs and the many ways they can be used to boost revenues while reducing rejections. The systems provide a single, integrated tool for the most accurate coding and billing available. EMRs are capable of identifying potential problems, submitting reimbursement claims electronically, and collecting balances online for increased clinic cash flow and profitability.
