ŌURA and Cigna Healthcare Partner to Enhance Preventive and Chronic Care

The partnership highlights the increasing integration of wearable technology with healthcare systems to enhance early intervention and overall patient wellness.

ŌURA and Cigna Healthcare have announced a strategic partnership to combine continuous biometric insights from the Oura Ring with Cigna Healthcare’s expertise in preventive care and chronic disease management.

The collaboration reflects the growing convergence of wearable technology and healthcare systems, aiming to strengthen early intervention and promote overall well-being.

Building on Oura’s earlier partnership with Essence, a Medicare Advantage plan, this initiative marks another step in the company’s evolution from a consumer wellness product to a clinically significant preventive health tool.

By integrating Oura’s continuous health data with Cigna Healthcare’s care models, the partnership aims to advance proactive health monitoring, enhance patient engagement, and improve chronic condition management across its network.

Boosting Engagement and Utilization
A persistent challenge in employee wellness programs has been low participation rates. In 2024, employees used only about 60% of their available wellness stipends, leaving roughly 40% of funds unspent. Oura’s wearable approach aims to improve engagement and utilization through a more interactive, data-driven experience.

Data shows strong user compliance with the Oura Ring, worn an average of 23.5 hours per day. Within the first 30 days, users have reported noticeable benefits—improved overall health (90%), better sleep (88%), reduced stress (81%), and increased productivity (79%). This high engagement makes the device well-suited for employer wellness initiatives that prioritize consistent use and measurable health outcomes.

Through the collaboration, select Cigna Healthcare clients are providing eligible employees with a complimentary Oura Ring 4 and a prepaid annual membership, integrating continuous wellness tracking into daily life.

The partnership represents a broader shift toward embedding preventive health into routine care through technology-driven insights, redefining how individuals interact with and act on their personal health data.
