Skylight Healthcare Systems & iNTERFACEWARE Join Hands

ntegration engine enables hospital IT systems to communicate and share data

SAN DIEGO – April 7, 2015 – Two health care IT companies are working together to combat the silos in health care and improve the patient experience.

Skylight® Healthcare Systems, developer of the industry’s most comprehensive patient engagement platform, and Toronto-based iNTERFACEWARE®, a software provider committed to simplifying healthcare integration, have partnered to quickly develop and deploy interfaces between Skylight’s platform, Skylight Interactive®, and health IT systems that use HL7 and XML data formats.

Skylight Interactive is used by hospitals across the country to engage patients before they are admitted to the hospital, while they are in the hospital, and after they leave the hospital. As patients become more active in their care experience and hospitals are compensated based on care quality and patient feedback, the use of interactive patient engagement platforms like Skylight Interactive has increased in recent years. As a result, the need for various applications to share data has also grown.

iNTERFACEWARE’s IGUANA integration engine allows Skylight Healthcare to quickly build and deploy interfaces between Skylight Interactive and systems such as electronic medical records (EMR) including orders, results and vitals; ADT (admission, discharge, and transfer) systems; and physician practice management applications. By sharing patient care instructions and information from Skylight Interactive, health care providers can deliver greater continuity in care and more personalized care to their patients.

“We built our platform to be flexible because we foresaw the trend in a more consumer-driven and patient-focused health care delivery system,” said Rick Holbrook, CTO for Skylight Healthcare Systems. “Now, we are seeing this come to fruition. Our partnership with iNTERFACEWARE and their robust interface engine makes it easier for us to quickly address the needs of our clients, improve data communication across systems and make the patient experience better for everyone.”

Skylight Healthcare and iNTERFACEWARE will demonstrate how the two technologies work together to impact the patient experience at 2 p.m. April 13 – 15 in booth #7827 Hall North at the Healthcare Information and Management Society’s Annual Conference (HiMSS15) in Chicago, Ill.

“The transition to pay-for-performance models and the resulting increased focus on the patient experience, only further emphasizes the need to be able to connect any system,” said Eliot Muir, CEO of iNTERFACEWARE. “Solutions like Skylight Interactive are on the leading edge of enabling providers to educate and engage their patients. It’s a partnership we value and an impact on healthcare we are proud to be a part of.”
