St. Vincent’s partners with MEDITECH for EMR

St. Vincent’s Health is adopting a unified cloud-hosted EMR system for its private hospitals across Australia. The organization recently announced its contract with MEDITECH, a US-based company, to implement the Expanse EMR across its 10 private hospitals located in Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. This deployment will utilize MEDITECH as a Service, the subscription model of Expanse.

The Expanse EMR platform, being web-based, will enable hospital staff to access real-time patient information tailored to their workflows. It will empower them with full mobility, allowing them to retrieve patient records, review results, place orders, and document care.

Patricia O’Rourke, CEO of St Vincent’s Private Hospital Division, expressed confidence in the robust foundation of the EMR system, highlighting the potential for further enhancements in clinical functionality.

Currently, the organizations are in the planning and design phase of the project, with phased go-lives scheduled for late this year and early 2025.

In a separate development, St Vincent’s Health recently faced an IT breach, wherein unknown hackers accessed their system. Approximately 4.3 gigabytes of system and configuration data, along with network credential data, were stolen. However, no sensitive information was compromised.
