The Sequoia Project’s CTO/ CIO Joins IHE USA Board of Directors

Eric Heflin, CIO/CTO for The Sequoia Project,  has been elected to the IHE USA Board of Directors. IHE USA represents the United States’ interests within IHE International, an international health IT standards development organization.

“IHE USA and The Sequoia Project are both dedicated to IHE and other world-class standards, tools, and services for scalable and successful health data sharing,” said Mr. Heflin.

Mr. Heflin brings more than 20 years of health IT experience, in addition to the unique insights of The Sequoia Project and its initiatives: eHealth Exchange, Carequality, and RSNA Image Share Validation. The Sequoia Project is a non-profit collaborative focused on advancing implementation of secure nationwide health data sharing. Partnership with and providing leadership to international standards development organizations is vital to the success of the development and large scale implementation of The Sequoia Project’s interoperability efforts.

As an at-large member of the IHE USA Board of Directors, Mr. Heflin joins other Sequoia staff volunteers in an ongoing commitment to development of international technical standards.

Didi Davis, director of testing programs for The Sequoia Project, serves on IHE International Board of Directors and various committees including, the Conformity Assessment Committee (CAsC), Testing and Tools Committee, Patient Care Coordination (PCC) Committees, Quality, Research and Public Health (QRPH) Committees.  Before joining The Sequoia Project, Ms. Davis worked at HIMSS, and played a critical role establishing what is now known as IHE USA and IHE International.

“The Sequoia Project is honored to support IHE year-round, from providing subject matter expertise to supporting IHE Connectathon testing worldwide,” continued Mr. Heflin.

This summer, The Sequoia Project CEO Mariann Yeager keynoted the IHE World Summit in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Ms. Yeager drew parallels of the IHE-based, federated structure for the eHealth Exchange for an audience of public and private sector healthcare leaders from across Europe.
