Tranzion integrates MatrixCare’s EHR services for seniors

National HealthCare Corp. is partnering with MatrixCare for EHR tools across more than 90 communities, focusing on interoperability and modernization in the post-acute industry. The collaboration, inspired by robust electronic health records, aligns with NHC’s vision for industry advancement. The integration will be managed through NHC’s subsidiary, Tranzion. NHC oversees various healthcare facilities, and MatrixCare is acknowledged for its software solutions in long-term care. The partnership aims to improve electronic health record capabilities within NHC’s assisted living and skilled nursing facilities.

MatrixCare has been actively expanding its tools in the senior care sector. Prior to this recent collaboration, MatrixCare partnered with Saber Healthcare Group, encompassing 140 long-term care facilities. In 2023, the company conducted a survey, revealing slow but steady progress in nursing homes toward improved interoperability. The survey indicated that fax machines were the primary method for receiving patient referral data among 28% of respondents, surpassing email (11%) and electronic data feed (14%). Despite this, the majority (86%) expressed disappointment with the inability to receive patient referral information digitally, while slightly fewer (71%) considered such capabilities “very important.” Electronic records executives, including Nick Knowlton of ResMed Saas (MatrixCare’s parent company), see significant growth in interoperable solutions in long-term care over the past five years, covering aspects like referral management, patient updates, and connected care.
