Willis-Knighton enhances patient care with MEDITECH Expanse EHR system.

EMR Industry

Willis Knighton Health has rolled out the MEDITECH Expanse electronic health record (EHR) system across its network of 132 clinics.

This strategic implementation consolidates three previously separate EHR systems, enabling seamless care coordination across both ambulatory and acute care settings.

The integration is expected to enhance healthcare outcomes and streamline operations throughout the organization.

Mark Galea, senior vice president and chief information officer of Willis Knighton Health Information Technology, stated, “One of the common concerns we’ve heard from patients is the need to repeat their information when seeing different providers.”

“This integration directly addresses that issue by enabling access to electronic health records across all Willis Knighton locations and providers,” he added.

With the shared EHR platform now in place, patients across the Willis Knighton network benefit from reduced duplication of tests and a unified patient portal for viewing test results and visit summaries.

Clinicians also benefit from having comprehensive patient data in one central location, helping reduce administrative workload and save valuable time.

During the rollout, clinics collaborated to standardize order sets and documentation templates, ensuring consistency across the system.

This collaborative effort enabled the rapid deployment of the system across all clinic locations.

The MEDITECH Expanse platform also provides customizable workflows, allowing it to meet the unique needs of different medical specialties.

Willis Knighton has expanded its use of the platform by implementing Expanse Oncology at its Cancer Center. This enhancement streamlines practice management and improves cancer care delivery by enabling real-time information sharing among care teams.

Helen Waters, executive vice president and chief operating officer at MEDITECH, commented: “This accomplishment highlights Willis Knighton’s steadfast dedication to delivering exceptional patient care and establishes a strong foundation for ongoing innovation and growth.”

As part of its patient-centered care approach, Willis Knighton has also extended MEDITECH Expanse to its rehabilitation center, progressive care center, and skilled nursing facility.
