Mental Health Center Of N Central

The Mental Health Center of North Central Alabama is a public, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has provided psychiatric and mental health services for Lawrence, Limestone and Morgan counties since 1967. The Mental Health Center can date its origins back to the Federal Community Mental Health Center Act and Act 310 of the Alabama State Legislature in 1967.

Services provided by the Mental Health Center include treatment for persons diagnosed with a serious mental illness (SMI) and/ or a severe emotional disturbance (SED); counseling and therapy for adults, children and families; substance abuse treatment; in-home treatment services; case management; geriatric programs; employee assistance programs; psychiatric services and other programs that serve the psychiatric, mental health and educational needs of the North-central, Alabama community

Programs include: The Decatur Morgan Counseling Center; Moulton- Lawrence Counseling Center; Athens -Limestone Counseling Center; The Albany Clinic; Quest Recovery Center; Options (geriatric services); and numerous other educational and community services. Approximately 185 staff, including three full-time psychiatrist; 40 Master’s level clinicians and over 25 Bachelor’s level case managers/ counselors provide services in various locations that includes local schools, nursing homes, courthouses, and other locations. During fiscal year 2011-2012, the Mental Health Center provided 186,767 clinical units of services and 20,055 hours of substance abuse treatment for 5,208 people.
